Introducing 511DFW app

July 24, 2018

The North Central Texas Council of Governments would like to introduce the new 511DFW, a free trip planning mobile app and website just for North Texas. The mobile app and redesigned website – www.511dfw.org – is launched, and we want to make sure people know about this amazing source for real-time information on traffic and transit conditions. The mobile app is available for Apple and Android devices.

This effort has been made possible through the contributions of NCTCOG’s partners around the region. 511DFW integrates travel data from other apps – including Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze – with data from local municipalities to provide accurate and up-to-the-minute travel information.

Upcoming Road Construction

FYI:  At the July meeting City Council approved a Certificate of Obligation to reconstruct Ridgeway from Hwy 78 to Bus Hwy 78.  The Public Works Department will be removing some of the worse areas and replacing with rock.  This will be temporary until permanent construction begins.  We will keep you informed as this projects proceeds.

Burn Ban for Collin County

July 5, 2018: County Judge Keith Self issued an outdoor burn ban for unincorporated areas of Collin County effective July 5, 2018, due to extremely dry conditions in rural areas. The 90-day ban will be formally confirmed at the next Commissioners Court, and will remain in effect until October 3, 2018, unless the Texas Forest Service or the Commissioners Court determines that it is no longer necessary.

The order does not prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that are authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for: (1) firefighter training; (2) public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations; or (3) burns that are conducted by a prescribed burn manager certified under Section 153.048, Natural Resources Code, and meet the standards of Section 153.047, Natural Resources Code.
